Chevy 383 4x4 Crate Engine by Tuff Dawg Engines

This Chevy 383 crate engine by Tuff Dawg Engines would be EXCELLENT for just about any pickup truck, 4X4, or RV. You can even use this engine in a car application where you want great torque without a lopey idle. With good all around power, it works well with either a manual or automatic transmission with a stock stall speed converter. This Chevy 383 engine puts the focus on torque and pulling power for a heavy body vehicle. It will work best with a Holley 670 Street Avenger carb or for those of you with with 4 wheel drives that plan on getting on them on different angles can use the 670 Holley Truck Avenger carb. Or you can even use your your Quadrajet carb! (Carbs mentioned are not included.) This engine will run on leaded or unleaded pump fuel.

The balanced rotating assembly (typically includes crankshaft, pistons, rings, connecting rods, rod bearings, and balancer) featured in this engine:

  • 3.750" stroke nodular iron crank
  • 5.7" forged rods with ARP rod bolts
  • 9.2 to 1 compression flat top pistons

More special features of this engine include:

  • Seasoned 4-bolt main block
  • Deck head gasket surface on block to ensure a good seal
  • New CompCams hydraulic flat tappet high performance cam that puts the focus on torque
  • 76cc heads with 1.940"Int/1.500"Exh valves
  • New 1.250" high performance springs set up to match cam
  • New High temperature valve seals
  • New Spiral-type valve guides
  • New Screw-in rocker studs with guide plates
  • New Steel rocker arms with balls and nuts
  • New Hardened push rods
  • New Perfect Circle rings
  • New Double row timing set
  • New High volume oil pump with welded big pickup screen and steel drive shaft and steel guide
  • New Revolutionary 1-pc design molded rubber oil pan gasket with load limiters to prevent over-tightening and higher temperature resistance than standard cork-rubber gaskets
  • New Brass expansion plugs
  • New Edelbrock (non-egr) Dual Plane Performer aluminum intake
  • All parts are painted separately before assembly for that show quality look

This engine comes completely assembled with oil pan, chrome dipstick and tube, chrome bowtie timing cover, harmonic balancer, chrome valve covers, and an Edelbrock (non-egr) Dual Plane Performer aluminum intake manifold.
