 This Chevy 454 Crate Engine by Tuff Dawg Engines would be EXCELLENT for a street/strip car, street rod,
or your hot rod. Remove that old Chevy 454 and install this 574HP Chevy 454 to bring
your ride to life! This engine has a rough idle. It is a good 4-speed manual
transmission engine. If you are using an A/T, a 2800rpm to 3000rpm stall
speed converter is recommended.
The balanced rotating assembly includes:
- New 4.00" stroke steel crank with hardened racing bearings
- New 6.135" 4340 I-beam rods with high performance rod bolts
- With 10 to 1 compression there is no need to mix fuel, this engine
will run on Premium pump gas
More special features of this engine include:
- New Forged domed pistons with moly file fit rings
- Seasoned 4-bolt main block
- Deck head gasket surface on block to ensure a good seal
- New Hydraulic flat tappet cam with .574"Int/.578"Exh valve lift
- New Aluminum rectangular port heads
- 2.250"Int/1.880"Exh stainless swirl polished valves with 11/32"
undercut stems for improved flow. Both intake and exhaust valves feature an undercut stem in the head area. In addition to reducing weight (which provides benefits in opening rate and rpm limits) the radius is such that it significantly improves air/flow. - New Revolutionary 1-pc design molded rubber oil pan gasket with
load limiters to prevent over-tightening and higher temperature resistance
than standard cork-rubber gaskets
- New Brass expansion plugs
- All parts are painted separately before assembly for that show quality

This engine comes completely assembled with extra capacity oil pan,
chrome timing cover, race-type harmonic balancer, chrome valve covers,
and Edelbrock intake manifold.
This engine is covered by a 6 month written warranty.
