Chevy 496 Crate Engine by Tuff Dawg Engines

This Chevy 496 612HP crate engine by Tuff Dawg Engines would be EXCELLENT for a street/strip car, street rod, pickup, or jet boat and runs on leaded or unleaded premium pump fuel. With 612HP @ 6000rpm and 570 ft lbs of torque @ 4000rpm it will set you back in the seat. With it's roller cam and 4.250" stroke it has amazing torque at all speeds. This engine still has 497 ft lbs of torque @ 2000rpm!

The balanced rotating assembly includes:

  • New 4.250" stroke & index steel crankshaft with .125" radius for added strength
  • New 6.385" Forged I-beam rods
  • New 10 to 1 Forged dome pistons
  • New file-fit moly rings
  • New Elastomer harmonic balancer

More special features of this engine include:

  • Seasoned 4-bolt main block
  • New CompCams mechanical roller camshaft
  • New CompCams mechanical roller lifters
  • New Aluminum rectangular port heads
  • New 2.250"Int/1.880"Exh stainless valves with 11/32" undercut stems that have been swirl polished for improved flow
  • New High performance roller valve springs setup to match roller cam
  • New Heavy duty 1.7 full roller rocker arms with 7/16" screw-in studs and 7/16" guide plates to handle that big roller cam. These roller rockers are fully CNC machined with black anodized finish. Needle bearing fulcrums and roller tips. Centerless ground pin and roller pedestal machined from billet steel. Thick wall poly lock nuts are used for adjusting
  • New 7/16" chrome moly push rods
  • New Double row timing set with Torrington bearing or brass thrust wear spacer
  • New Timing cover with button to prevent cam walk
  • New Hardened racing main and rod bearings with big chamfer to clear .125" radius on steel crank
  • New High volume oil pump with steel drive shaft and steel guide with welded oversize pickup to match oil pan
  • New 7 quart drag/race oil pan
  • New Revolutionary 1-pc design molded rubber oil pan gasket with load limiters to prevent over-tightening and higher temperature resistance than standard cork-rubber gaskets
  • New Brass expansion plugs
  • New Edelbrock Victor Jr single plane aluminum rectangular port high rise intake manifold - This intake offers maximum horsepower with a broad torque curve for great all around power
  • All parts are painted separately before assembly for the show quality you need for that special show car or street rod

This engine comes completely assembled with drag/race oil pan, chrome dipstick, aluminum billet timing cover with chrome timing marker, elastomer harmonic balancer, tall chrome valve covers, and Edelbrock single plane aluminum intake manifold.
