This Ford 400 crate engine by Tuff Dawg Engines was specifically designed for the person that wants to
replace that Ford 351M or Ford 400 in their Ford and get the extra power it never had!
With the help of CompCam's split-duration cam and the Aussie heads this Ford 400
is a great engine with strong throttle response and added torque and makes
this Ford 400 Crate Engine by Tuff Dawg Engines the best choice for that added power. This engine runs on pump
premium leaded or unleaded fuel and is for non-emission applications with
405hp @ 6000 rpm and 420lb of torque @ 5000 rpm makes this Ford 400 with Aussie
heads your best choice.
The balanced rotating assembly (typically includes crankshaft,
pistons, rings, connecting rods, rod bearings, and balancer) featured in
this engine:
- 4.000" stroke nodular iron crank
- 6.580" rods with ARP rod bolts
- 9½ to 1 compression pistons
More special features of this engine include:
- Seasoned block that has been vatted, magnafluxed for cracks, thermal
cleaned and steelabrated, bored, honed and plateau honed to fit new
oversized pistons
- Deck head gasket surface on block to ensure a good long lasting seal
- New CompCams Split-duration hydraulic cam
- Installed on this engine is the famous Australian 2V closed chamber
heads. They are casting #ARDIAE and have the "closed chamber" design of
the early 4 barrel Cleveland heads but with the 2 barrel port sizes.
- Heads have been vatted, glassbeaded/steelabrated and magnafluxed for cracks
- 3-angle valve job
- Both heads resurfaced
- 60cc "quench" chambers vs the American 75cc open chamber head
- These heads have been used in the place of the American heads to
increase compression and maintain low-end performance and boost all-around
power
- Will work with stock exhaust manifolds
- Deck surface cast thicker than American heads
- New Valve guides
- Assembled with all New 2.040"Int/1.660"Exh valves
- New High performance valve springs setup to be used with
CompCam's split-duration cam
- New Oversize pistons and rings
- New Heavy duty double row timing set
- New High volume oil pump
- New Brass expansion plugs
- New Oversize main and rod bearings to fit reground 4.00" stroke

- New Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake manifold
- This engine comes with a 2" high intake to carb spacer to increase
plenum volume. This spacer increases the carb-to-plenum floor distance
which atomizes the fuel better and also enhances low-rpm torque and
throttle response. This engine takes a square bore carb. This engine works
best with a 750cfm Holley carb (not included) and a 2400 rpm stall speed
converter if being used with a automatic transmission
- All parts are painted separately before assembly for that show quality

This engine comes completely assembled with oil pan, timing cover,
harmonic balancer, valve covers, and Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake
manifold.
This engine is covered by a 1 year written warranty.
